Student Bio:

Michael Ting was raised in Calgary Alberta Canada. He became interested in plant research during his bachelors degree where he studied the synthesis of medicinal compounds from the opium poppy. He then moved to Kingston Ontario Canada to complete his masters degree, where he studied a key enzyme in seed oil-biosynthesis. His love for plant research led him to pursue a PhD in the Melbourne-Potsdam program. He now works on the regulation of protein-translation and the interplay with the circadian clock in plants. Mike hopes that his research with plants will help create a more sustainable future.
